Biografi
Henrik Kilhamn (född 1988) är en frilansande konsertpianist och ackompanjatör baserad i Göteborg med kandidat- och masterexamen från Högskolan för scen och musik i Göteborg där han har studerat för Bernt Wilhelmsson. Han har även gjort ett års utbytesstudier vid Newcastle University i England samt gått avancerad interpretation för Mats Jansson vid Örebro musikhögskola.
Henrik är flitigt anlitad och framträder bl.a. på Göteborgsoperan och Göteborgs Konserthus samt ger egna solokonserter. Han har varit pianosolist med orkestrar som Örebro Akademiska orkester och New Tyneside Orchestra i Newcastle (Storbritannien) och framträtt i bland andra Göteborgs pianofestival och Lagrasse pianofestival i Frankrike. Han verkar också som ackompanjatör i olika många sammanhang såsom till körer, studenter, inspelningar m.m. Som en del av Duo Cellissimo blev Henrik uttagen till final i kammarmusiktävlingen Ung och Lovande 2017. Han har mottagit bl.a. Kungliga musikaliska akademiens nationella stipendium, John Andersson i Anderslövs prestigefulla stipendium för pianister, Konstnärsnämndens arbetsstipendium och senast Göteborgs Kulturstipendium 2023.
Sedan 2019 driver Henrik Youtube-kanalen Sonata Secrets där han producerar och publicerar filmer om klassiska pianostycken i gränslandet mellan presentation, analys och interpretation av musiken. Kanalen har samlat över 40 000 prenumeranter världen över och utgör en resurs för pianostudenter och entusiaster i alla åldrar som vill förkovra sig i den klassiska pianorepertoaren.
Henrik har även ett passionerat intresse för att utveckla förutsättningarna för det klassiska musiklivet och dess musiker, vilket bl.a. har tagit formen att han arbetade som ordförande för studentkåren vid musikhögskolan året efter masterexamen, samt att han är en av initiativtagarna och ordförande för Pianosällskapet i Väst, en plattform för unga klassiska pianister i Västsverige.

Henrik Kilhamn is a concert pianist, chamber musician, and accompanist based in Gothenburg, Sweden. He works regularly with the Gothenburg Opera house orchestra as well as the Gothenburg Symphony choir and vocal ensemble. One of his post-pandemic highlights was playing the program “Screen symphony” with Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra featuring TV series music, among others the Downton Abbey theme for piano and orchestra.
Henrik plays solo recitals regularly around western Sweden, and in 2022 he championed a programme of piano music by Scriabin and his romantic influences, celebrating the 150th anniversary of this intriguing composer. He has also been invited to the Lagrasse Piano Festival (FR), Gothenburg Piano Festival (SE), and the Nordic Song Festival (SE), among others. When he is not playing concerts, he enjoys accompanying choirs and students and working as a collaborative pianist with singers and instrumentalists in professional as well as educational settings.
In 2019 Henrik founded the Youtube channel Sonata Secrets which now has accumulated over 40 thousand followers and 2.5 million views. In videos on the channel, he gives enthusiastic explanations for how classical music works with an analytical perspective while presenting and playing the pieces. The videos have the ambition to be accessible to listeners not so familiar with classical music, and the channel has become a resource for piano players of all levels around the world.
Henrik holds a bachelor’s (2010) and a master’s degree (2014) from the Academy of Music and Drama, Gothenburg University, where he studied for Bernt Wilhelmsson. He also studied abroad with the Erasmus program in Newcastle, UK (2011), for David Murray, and most recently the postgraduate interpretation program at Örebro University, School of music (2016) for Mats Jansson.
Henrik has received the prestigious Royal Swedish Academy of Music National scholarship in 2014, a Working grant from the Swedish Arts Grants Committee in 2019, and lately the Gothenburg Cultural Scholarship 2023. He was selected for the finals of the national chamber music competition “Young and Promising” as part of Duo Cellissimo in 2017, and in 2019 he was selected to take part in the Nordic Piano Competition. He is also one of the founding members and president of the Piano society of western Sweden since its inception in 2016. The society is a valuable network for pianists and has presented over 30 concerts with piano and chamber music programmes over the years (as long as piano is included in the ensemble!).
